Kind of eerie and surreal in the way that real world objects sometimes turn with just the right amount of light and angle you could almost believe that the crazy twisting staircase in this picture is actually leading up higher and higher into the heavens. I particularly like the fact that the middle of the image on the left hand side holds the most light, whereas the upper left, closer to where the staircase seems to lead is darker. While not exactly something that most people might think of when they think of a staircase to heaven to me it conjures up an image of reaching the top of the stairs and turning to face towards the glorious light shining towards you from the horizon.

Basically you would be coming up a little ways away from the entrance to heaven so that the much spoken of pearly gates were just within your view, shining their glorious eminence towards you. Beautiful imagery, even if you are not a believer as I myself am not.

Not that this was likely photographically possible, but it would have been nice to see the a little less of the top level of the structure to which the stairs actually lead. Of course, as they are physically connected to each other that is likely to be a nigh impossible shot to achieve. Still a little more of the lovely sky and a little less of the concrete would have been good.

The fact that the photo is taken from a point that is next to, but not actually on the stairs is an interesting location for this shot. I can’t really form any strong suggestions for potential means that could be implied by this, but I will say that it adds to the shot that the viewer is right there, but apparently separated from the path up.

I would give this picture a 5 of 5 for vision. It is excellent photography work which seems to capture the essence of a stairway into the sky and into even heaven itself. It takes a good eye to be able to do that with a stair case and a lovely spot of clouds.

It’s difficult to judge originality on photography. Technically with field photography everything is at least to a greater degree original because you are capturing the moment as well as the place and time. I haven’t seen one like this before though, so I figure that is all the proof I need to call it original. I give a 5 out of 5 for originality.

Excellent technique on this image, the only thing that I would mark it down for is that I feel it could use some more sky and a little less parking structure. A 4 of 5 for technique.

This image is one that paints a clear and beautiful picture in my mind that reaches beyond the photograph itself and kind of instills a certain serenity on the viewer. I particularly enjoy the unusual visual path that is created by the angle on the staircase because I figure that an otherworldly place ought to have an otherworldly staircase. A 5 of 5 for impact.

A very good picture which fits well with its title.
